Some vindication for affordable housing

Unfortunately, many still believe that affordable mortgage practices are to blame for the housing crisis. Five years into the recovery, new data compiled by Bloomberg shows that single family loans financed by state housing finance agencies (HFAs) have proven to be sound investments. Not only have HFAs provided homeownership to 2.6 million families with about 100,000 loans yearly, according to the National Council of State Housing Agencies, they have issued these loans in a responsible way. Now we see benefits to the investors as bonds that finance single-family mortgages are doing much better than the rest of the municipal market.
