MLXchange 4.0 Upgrade

Thursday 08 November 2007

Look for new features December 11, 2007

On Tuesday, December 11 we’ll be upgrading MLXchange to version 4.0. The new version builds on some behind-the-scenes structural enhancements made for version 3.0, and it promises to take usability to new heights.

Recently, the MFRMLS beta version test group had a chance to give 4.0 a test drive and, overwhelmingly, they liked what they saw. The improved map search drew the most attention. Grab and drop navigation, aerial photos, easy-to-use polygon tool, and the split screen results view constitute a quantum leap above the current map search.

Other great features include a collapsible side bar, results screen enhancements, driving directions you can Email, an enhanced Email editor, updated agent web pages, and much more. Find out more about the features of MLXchange 4.0»

Online Training Class Available in November

Thursday 08 November 2007

Web tutorial covers the ins and outs of MLXchange

On November 10, MFRMS will launch a new Online Training Class. The interactive training program guides you step-by-step through all the most important features of MLXchange. MLS Training Director Shayne Fairley says the new program will allow subscribers to learn “on their own time, at their own pace, and in their own home or office.”

Who Can Take the Online Training Class?

All MFRMLS subscribers can take the Online Training Class. If it has been a while since you have attended a training session, you may discover features now available in MLXchange that you didn’t know about. If you are a new subscriber, successfully completing the Online Training Class will meet your requirement for attending the MLXchange Basic training class.

How Do I Take the Online Class?

Beginning November 10, we will provide a link to the Online Training Class from the mfrmls.com home page. You’ll be prompted for your Member ID and Name before you proceed to the training program. After successfully completing the program, you will be presented with an online Certificate of Completion that you can print and file, and a record of your successful completion will be posted to your account.

Can I Still Take the Class in Person?

Absolutely. The online class is a convenience, and it will help us educate more subscribers more quickly, but it cannot replace the benefits of a live training session where you can ask questions and interact with the trainer.

MFRMLS and Your Local Association

Thursday 08 November 2007

The relationship between your association and your MLS

Did you know that the Mid-Florida Regional Multiple Listing Service is a separate organization from your local association of Realtors®? Prior to 1995, each of our current member associations provided their own MLS solution, but in 1995, six local associations cooperated to form an independent organization to provide MLS services for its collective membership. They called the organization the Mid-Florida Regional Multiple Listing Service. Your local association is a shareholder of MFRMLS.

In 1999, the West Volusia Associaiton of Realtors® joined MFRMLS, in 2003, the Greater Tampa Association of Realtors® joined, and just last month we announced that five Southwest Florida associations will be contributing to and sharing the resources of MFRMLS, making your MLS one of the largest and strongest multiple listing services in the country.

Your local Association of Realtors® provides you with a host of valuable services, and it is your gateway to the Florida Association of Realtors® and the National Association of Realtors®. Although your local association serves as a local MFRMLS Service Center, holding a membership with your local association is separate from your subscription to MFRMLS.

If you have a question about MLS related services, we have assembled a fantastic team of MLS administrators and help desk professionals at our Orlando, FL headquarters, and they are ready to help you with whatever you need.

What is IDX?: Shedding Light on Internet Data Display

Thursday 08 November 2007

IDX stands for Internet Data Exchange, a policy instituted by the National Association of Realtors® that allows MLS participants to display other brokers' listings on their websites. The benefit of taking advantage of the IDX policy is that your clients can search a subset of active MLS Data within the framework of your website, and your active listings will be viewed on other brokers' websites.

In order to employ IDX on your website, you'll need an IDX Solution. An IDX Solution is an Internet software application that harnesses the information in the MLS and makes it available for display on your website. While there are many 3rd party IDX solutions available, the IDX solution provided with MLXchange Pro is free with your MLS subscription, and FAR offers members a value-added solution as well. For more information on FAR's solution, you can contact them at (407) 587-1450.

Why Would I Participate in IDX?

Most homebuyers begin their search on the Internet. By allowing buyers to search for homes on your website, you are more likely to get the call when they're ready to start viewing homes. When you allow your listings on other broker's websites, you increase your exposure and the chance that they will bring a buyer to the table.

How Do I Participate in IDX?

Your listings are automatically part of IDX unless you specifically request in writing that they be withheld. A broker who withholds his listings from IDX is not permitted to display other brokers' listings on his website. If you'd like to participate in IDX and show listings on your site, a great place to start is to take advantage of the IDX solution that is part of the Agent Website feature on MLXchange.
